If your afternoon snack routine involves a handful of cashews from the pantry or you were hoping to dress up your Easter brunch table with
Spiced Honey Cashews
, you’ll want to first check the cashew packaging.
Trader Joe’s just announced a recall on
50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews
for potential Salmonella contamination. The affected cashews were distributed across 16 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. The contamination was discovered through routine testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration upon import. According to
the recall announcement
, “one of the recalled lots tested positive for the presence of Salmonella.” Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported.
The recalled cashews have SKU# 37884 and the following best-before dates:
- Lot No: T12139 – Best Before Feb. 21, 2025
- Lot No: T12140 – Best Before March 1, 2025
- Lot No: T12141 – Best Before March 8, 2025
- Lot No: T12142 – Best Before March 10, 2025
Trader Joe’s
urges any customers who have purchased 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews
with the affected lot number and best-before dates to return the product to their local store for a full refund or discard immediately. Salmonella infections are especially dangerous for young children, elderly people, and those with compromised immune systems.
In the meantime, we’d recommend subbing in one of our
favorite Southern nuts

Pecan pralines
